Fishing Report East Twin

I got out there about 2PM and there was plenty of people out on the ice. None the less I wore a life jacket I as tip-toed over the pressure ridge that goes west and east, just north of the old road bed. I drilled a couple of holes off the feeding shelf that I like. I started in 11′ and start catching crappie instantly. The ice was exactly 8" ( I measured) and chippy. Lots of water was on the ice and started to perculate down by sunset. I tested a theory today and found this to be true. When fishing for crappies with minnows and you get fish on the flasher that just "hang there" I found out that by changing to smaller jigs, in my case it was #12 white genz bug tipped with a white pin worm. The fish may be bluegills. This happened quite a bit today but I ended up catching the bluegill that would just suspend under the minnow with the other set up. I would lower the jig down, touch bottom and waddled it back up slowly to about 2 feet above the bottom and the burn would follow it up, then dead stick and WHAM!! a nice bluegill. (Though not big bluegill; Sandbilly would be proud of the picking up the spare :D)
I also caught a few white bass. The presure ridge it awfully scary because it’s melted down to thin shale that rides over the top of better ice-so becareful! On the way home my truck broke down so this may have been my last time out for ice. :(

Good luck and becareful!
Andrew
